Clean and graphic card with die cut flowers

This card was made with The Card Concept #38 challenge in mind.

I loved the yellow and grey colour scheme but initially had no idea what I’d do flower-wise: I’m not really a “flower person”! Then I remembered that my small but growing die collection included the gorgeous Ellen Hutson ‘Bold Blossoms’ die set. I only used the large flower on this card, but cut some of the other elements for use elsewhere.

I didn’t have pale grey cardstock so I fudged my own with Avery Elle ‘Silver Fox’ pigment ink on plain white cardstock, with a spray of workable fixative to stop the pigment powder from the ink brushing off onto things (I probably used too much ink). The medium grey cardstock is Stampin’ Up! ‘Smoky Slate’, and I think the yellow is Bazzill ‘Pollen’… I bought it as loose cardstock so am not 100% certain.

I thought I’d try a dark background too, but swapped the darker grey for white for a bit more visual impact.

And because I love black and white, I had to make one of those as well!

I’ll probably make a few more with this theme… it was surprisingly fun!

    1. Thank you, Laurie! :)

I hadn’t used those dies before, but — even though they’re flowers! LOL — I liked them enough to have made a few more cards with this theme since.
