Here’s a second card that I made for the CAS(E) this Sketch #127 challenge… a bit closer to the original sketch this time!
Being a complete newbie at card challenges — but having fun with my first two such cards! — it was only after I initially posted it that I found it fitted some other current challenges. So to jump right into the middle of things I’ve also submitted it to The Card Concept #37 (The Butterfly Effect), and Addicted to CAS #65 (Butterfly).
I apologise for the poor quality of the photograph. I’ve tried different camera modes as well as additional lighting, but I think my camera just has problems focusing on the vellum. The effect is what I wanted, particularly in real life, but it drives my camera nuts. If I manage to take a better photo later I’ll upload it, but in the meantime this is the least bad shot…
The colours are all from Stampin’ Up!, and from the top left in clockwise order are Pear Pizzazz, Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron and Pool Party (all from the Subtles range).
The butterfly is white heat embossed on vellum, turned around so that the embossing is on the back because I wanted it to be more subtle than it looked the right way around.
Here’s the original sketch for the CAS(E) this Sketch #127 challenge:
I only wish I could come up with something as cool as The Card Concept #37 (The Butterfly Effect) theme picture!
And it also goes nicely with the Addicted to CAS #65 code word, butterfly:
Hopefully I haven’t broken any rules doing all that! :D
Another great card Sue. Love it.

Thank you, Leigh! :)
I hadn’t used vellum before but had liked it when I’d seen other people use it. I liked it here too so I’m sure it’ll feature regularly in my cards. Now I just need to get my camera to like it! LOL

It is a little harder to capture vellum on camera, that’s true! I just made a card with some vellum this morning — it’s very fun! And so pretty!

I have another idea for butterflies and vellum… just need to find the time to make it! (I’m in the middle of an overnighter for work, typing here while waiting for something to run on another computer…),
I think my main vellum photography problem is that the embossed image is on the BACK, to deliberately make it look soft from the front. My camera just can’t handle that and all the focus modes just move the focal point constantly trying to get a sharp image, which will never happen.
I think the answer is to invest in a better camera that I can drive directly. :D
